8:58pm. On a Monday.
I’m sitting on my couch, eating cheese n’ crackers, listening to Christmas music, and just realized that as of January 1, 2012, I’ll have a whole boat load of vacation days to use. ROAD TRIP!
I head on over to Howard Orloff, your preferred Chicago Volvo dealer for over 50 years, and hop into my brand new #VolvoS60. I’ve been noticing them in the streets of Chicago a lot more lately and I can see why. I cannot wait to take a road trip in this amazing machine. Let’s ponder the latest topic for #VolvoBigEastFan; which three Big East campuses would I like to visit on a road trip and why?
Having to go through long Chicago winters every year (can’t it be every OTHER year?!) I naturally think warm. Beach. Sunshine. Tampa! I’m so glad that USF is a member of the Big East, because that means that I can watch my #bluedemons in action in sunny and warm Florida while my friends and family endure chilly temps and DePaul games on tv.
Honestly, second to the game against the Bulls, the thing that I’m most excited about is the opportunity to drive this sweet ass #VolvoS60 up and down the sunshine skyway bridge. While I’ve never been on it, it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do and I can’t imagine a nicer ride to do it in. I’ve heard Tampa is pretty nice this time of year and I’d love to check out the atmosphere of a UCF Big East home game, as well as the progress the University has made on the “Sun Dome”, home to USF’s men’s and women’s basketball programs which is scheduled to be completed around April 2012.
I’d also have to make a trip in my #VolvoS60 to Milwaukee. I love Milwaukee. Some like to joke that Milwaukee is just another suburb of Chicago but it’s big enough to create it’s own vibe with it’s own residents. Even though both Milwaukee and Chicago bump up to Lake Michigan on the East, when I’m in Milwaukee it’s like I’m looking into a completely different body of water.
Marquette has a really nice campus and even at a the local bodega, I can find a beef and cheese stick combo pack. Yum! Even though the #VolvoS60 could get me to Milwaukee and back in less than a half a tank of gas, I’d stay the night for Brunch the next day at the Comet Café because it’s a pretty hip spot.
My third and final road trip would be to Villanova! I know that it’s not technically in Philadelphia but let’s get real here, that’s where I’d be spending most of my time.
Home to everyone’s favorite fictional bar, Paddy’s Pub, this would be the trip where I’d check out the nightlife. South Street is where the cool kids in Philadelphia hang out so obviously that’s where I’d roll up to in my #VolvoS60, looking to turn some heads. Even beyond “the scene” in Philly, the history there is something that I just don’t get to experience in the Midwest. The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 and Chicago wasn’t even incorporated as a town until 1833! Watching a Big East basketball game played in a city founded in 1682 by players born in 1992 is a difference of 310 years! Just think of all that has happened in all three hundred and ten…
Three very different road trips, but all for the same reason, Big East basketball! Tampa has the weather I need right about now. Milwaukee is close to home and always fun. Philadelphia brings the party and the history. I can’t wait to get my #VolvoS60 keys!
